Updated Aug 30, 12:29 AM CDTHolly Winterburn gains a clearer path after Leite's suspension
Holly Winterburn scored 11 points in 13.1 minutes Friday, working four competitive reserve stints behind Portland's starters. Carla Leite's contract suspension now removes 29 minutes and a major ballhandling role from that group, giving Winterburn a credible path toward the high teens. The Fire have not announced their replacement starter, so a larger workload is an opportunity rather than a guarantee. Winterburn can still lead the second unit even if Jordan Harrison or another guard joins the opening five.
